KUALA LUMPUR: More than 1.5 million local and foreign visitors are expected at the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism International Show (Maha) 2010 starting on Nov 26.
Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar said the 10-day event had attracted 20 countries and more were expected to join.
“In order to place Maha 2010 as the prime agricultural event of the region, we have extended the promotion campaign to Europe, Latin America, Asia and Australia.
“Sales are expected to grow 56.3% to RM15mil from RM9.6mil in Maha 2008,” he said after the soft launch here yesterday.
The sixth edition of Maha will be held at the Malaysia Agro-Exposition Park Serdang.
Noh said the expo was set to position Malaysia as a centre of excellence in the development of the agriculture and agro-based industry in order to attract private and foreign investments.
“Maha 2010, themed ‘Agricultural Innovation for Growth’ showcases Malaysia’s best producers, farmers, fishermen and stockmen, and provides a platform to pitch the region’s best agro-based companies.
“New innovative technologies will be highlighted with the aim of making Malaysia the preferred one-stop centre for product showcase and trading purposes,” he added. – Bernama
