The Putera 1Malaysia Club, formed on 11 May 2010, is spearheaded by the patronage of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, YAB Dato’ Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak.
“Martial arts like Tomoi, Silat, Wushu, Kabadi and Taekwondo are of international stature and need to be developed with that in mind. Globally, martial art exponents are among the most respected specialists in the world – we aim to see our best and brightest being acknowledged here in a similar manner.
Tomoi in particular will form the heart of our efforts, as the AMAE will become an annual event that celebrates martial arts while showcasing the best Tomoi fighters in the world! We have some of the world’s most skilled fighters living, working and training in Malaysia – we need to ensure that they receive the best training, support, promotion and protection that we can provide them.
Most importantly, AMAE is a platform that brings the 1Malaysia concept to life – it’s about our youth who are the leaders of tomorrow. It’s about discipline and delivering the best performance possible. It’s about honour,” said Dato’ Haji Abdul Azeez bin Abdul Rahim, President of the Putera 1Malaysia Club.
Designed to champion the highest ideals of sportsmanship and athleticism in general in the areas of martial arts and self defense techniques, the AMAE represents the first step towards the creation of a national platform for the on-going general education, training and welfare of
Malaysian athletes who participate in the various martial art forms; and the showcasing of the country’s diverse martial arts communities.
These include practitioners of Ninjitsu, Judo, Silat, Kendo, Wushu, Karate-Do, Taekwondo, Capoeira, Aikido and Muay Thai or “Tomoi” as it is more commonly known here.
An activities based event, AMAE also showcases the different styles of self defense techniques and the benefits of practicing martial arts to individuals and society in regards to self-discipline, confidence, health, mutual respect, patience and so much more.
All these will be highlighted through demonstrations, community projects and workshops to cultivate interest in the practice of martial arts among youths and adults. Designed as a family day, AMAE will also have activities suited to young and old alike and will feature an array of fantastic prizes to be won by visitors.
Fight Night is a Live Event that will be broadcast LIVE on Astro Arena (channel 801) showcasing the best of Malaysian Tomoi (muay thai) Fighters vs. The World. They will compete in 10 bouts over 2 nights through high-octane full contact combat for National Pride!
In addition to that, the event will showcase performances by leading young Malaysian artistes and fashion designers.
A New Age in Martial Arts
Emphasizing the incubation of new talent while building young athletes for tomorrow, the AMAE promotes sportsmanship and supreme athleticism in a national team competition format.
This will provide an opportunity for the best young, new fighters around the country to train, develop their talent and advance their reputations while competing against the world’s best fighters to become the finest athletes in the world.
“Malaysian Tomoi fighters work really hard and enjoy what they do. They are also acknowledged as among the more skilled groups in the world. What we hope to see happening is the elevation of the sport in general. That way, we can work towards sending our representatives to bear the country’s flag in international championships and also ensure that the welfare and long term health and economic needs of these valuable athletes are looked after,” said Carliff Carleel, Managing Director of All Martial Arts Gym and Events Sdn Bhd, the event’s promoter.
On December 30 - December 31 2010, the AMAE will premiere its first event as 10 Malaysian Athletes take on the world at Telekomuzium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia against representatives from Iran, Russia, USA, Australia, Thailand to name a few.
Fans will be able to look forward to high-quality, world-class matchups featuring some of the best talent in any ring anywhere in the world. The international flavored competition will also feature an element of national pride as the Malaysian athletes strive to uphold the country’s honour in the ring!
The event – promising a difference not just in the way the fighters are managed but also the entertainment – will feature a surprise element in the form of a fashion show.
“We put the development of healthy sports at the heart of it all by stressing athleticism, skill and sportsmanship – all values that resonate with our national values and pride as Malaysia is known to be home to those who strive and excel in all fields! These values will guide the growth and eventual selection of Malaysia’s best athletes while inculcating the highest levels of the sport internationally,” added Carliff.
A design competition is also being organized as part of this year’s event to challenge up to 20 designers to come up with couture style dresses inspired by Martial Arts. These will be showcased in the fighter’s parade where the designer’s “Angel” will reveal the outfit alongside the warrior before the event’s fight night.
This event will be broadcast live on ASTRO Arena, repeated on four different international sports channels and covered by Fashion TV and will be a spectacle to feast the eyes, ears and soul.
About All Martial Arts Gym and Events Sdn Bhd
All Martial Arts Gym and Events started as a training center for Tomoi. Created by Marzuki Ismail, co- founder of AMAE, this was a means for him to continue striving to promote the sport he loves in Malaysia. Now with the creation of AMAE, the gym itself will be part of AMAE’s program to provide affordable facilities for those whom are interested in training in different types of art forms and give preference to those less fortunate to come and spend their time in a more conducive area for self development and spending time in a positive environment instead of on the streets that may endanger themselves and being a nuisance to others.
